Carbotech Compounds

Carbotech 1521

Carbotech 1521 is a high performance street compound. It is known for it's extremely low dust, low noise and unmatch rotor friendliness. It has excellent release and modulation characteristics. The coumpound has fantastic linear torque production and provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. The operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+is compound is suitable on ALL street cars and work well for any tow vehicle or fleet vechicle. Carbotech 1521 pads are NOT recommended for ANY track use.

 


 

Carbotech AX6

When Carbotech came out with the AX6, they had one thing in mind, Autocross. This is a high torque brake compound that delivers reliable and consistent performance over a very wide operating temperature range of 50°F to 1000°F + (10°C to 537°C+). This advanced compound matrix provides an excellent initial bite, high coefficient of frictino at lower temperatures as well as very progressive brake modulation and release characteristics. AX6 can be used on the street, but expect high levels of noise and dust. Luckily, Carbotech compounds are non-corrosive, so that dust will clean up much easier than other competitiors parallel products. AX6 is NOT a recommended brake pad for race applications, AX6 has been recommended as a beginner HPDE compound for beginner students.

 


 

Carbotech XP8

XP8 is a high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1250°F+ (93°C to 676°C+). The XP8 was Carbotechs first racing compound. It has good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. It has an extremely high fade resistance and is still very rotor friendly, compared to competitors parallel products. This is a great pad for track day use with any tire, it is also great for cars that are being driven to and from the track. XP8 is not recommended as a daily driven pad because of high levels of dust and noise. XP8 is a great compound for those who are moving from beginner to intermediate run groups in HPDE.

 


 

Carbotech XP10

When the XP10 was released, it gathered multiple regional, divisional, and nationship championships. The XP10 has a very strong initial bite with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness that is unmatched in the braking industry. The XP10 has a fade resistance in excess of 1475°F (801°C). XP10 still maintains the highly praised release, excellent modulation and extreme rotor friendless that have made Carbotech compounds so successfull. XP10 is not recommended as a daily driven pad street pad due to extremely eleveated levels of dust and noise. We recommended this compound for those who are at the top of the intermediate run groups in HPDE.

 


 

Carbotech XP12

This is another success story within the XP series, it boasts excellent initial bite, torque and fade resistance over and above the XP10. The XP12 has a temperature range of 250°F to 1850°F+ (121°C to 1010°C+).The XP12 has that excellent Carbotech release and modulation that has made all other Carbotech compounds so successful. The XP12 is going to be more aggressive towards the rotor than it's XP10 counterpart, but compared to the competition, it is still very rotor friendly. We do not recommend this compound to be used on the street because of extremely high levels of dust and noise. We recommend this compound for those who are moving from the intermediate run group to the advanced group in HPDE.

 


 

Carbotech XP20

The XP20 pad was better than the XP16 pad in every single way. It is for those reasons that it is our biggest seller for high horse-power advanced HPDE drivers. It has an extremely aggressive initial bite, linear torque curve and fantastic fade resistance. The XP20 is another major step in progression with the already highly successful XP series. This pad has a temperature range of 275°F to 2000°F+ (135°C to 1093°C+). XP20 maintains our tradition of having the outstanding release and modulation that has made all other Carbotech compounds so successful. We do not recommend this pad to be used on the street because of extremely high levels of dust and noise. This compound is recommended for anyone in advanced run groups in HPDE with high weight and high-horsepower cars.

 


 

Carbotech XP24

XP24 is the pinnacle compound of the already successful XP series that is engineered by Carbotech. This compound is based on the same fundamentals that exist in all other Carbotech formulas. This XP24 compound has more initial bite, more overall bite, and more torque along with the most linear torque curve that is offered. The thermal characterisitics are the highest Carbotech has to offer as well as the highest coefficient of friction rating offered by anyone in the braking industry. This compound is one of the longest wearing compounds that Carbtoech has to offer as it was originally engineered to be used in endurance applications at the higest pro racing levels. This is a revolutionary compound that is extremely successful with open wheel, close wheel, sprint and endurance applications. XP24 has a temperature range of 400°F to 2000°F+ (204°C to 1093°C+). The XP24 pad is not recommend for ANY street use due to the high operating temperature and extremely dust and noise levels. Because of the extremely high temperature needs, we recommend this pad to be ordered with Carbotechs exclusive pad-bedding procedure.

 


Carbotech RP2

The RP2 compound was engineered with the endurance racer in mind, it is based on the highly successful XP series formulas. RP2 has a strong initial bite, a little less modulation than the XP12, but it still maintains the rotor friendliness that make the XP compounds a staple. RP2 has great fade resistance and with a temperature range of 250°F to 1450°F+ (121°C to 787°C), it is great for medium to light-weight endurance vehicles that need to go the distance. The RP2 compound is not recommended for use as a daily driven street pad due to the possibility of high dust and noise levels.
